Reunion’s day of water sports

REUNION TO STAGE THE 15TH EDITION OF THE ANNUAL SAILING FESTIVAL

(Posted 05th July 2014)

This Sunday will see the annual Sailing Festival take place on Reunion with a range of water sports, from sailing over rowing to diving available to watch by those who are not actively participating on and in the water.

The Reunion Dragon Boat Association will again be at the forefront after being launched on the island in 2007 and spectators can expect a spectacle at the Mascareignes’ port’s naval base. Those interested can have introductions into Dragon boat racing and in the afternoon will a race take place to add some thrills for the crowd.

Elsewhere will the Yacht Club Portois offer insights into sailing with two classes of boats including the Sailfish while the diving club Le Bleu Marine at Saint Gilles Les Baines will conduct dives and a boat trip to watch whales. Watersports West is organizing trials with Hobie Catamarans and dinghy sailing and the rowing club at Etang de Saint Paul is going to demonstrate the finer points of how to row a boat and not capsize.

No doubt a great day out for local families but also tourist visitors and for them all the wish that the weather gods may be kind on Sunday. For these and other details about activities on Reunion click on www.reunion.fr
