AS FOUNDER MEMBER OF THE RHINO FUND UGANDA PASSES DOES RFU NAME A NEWBORN CALF AFTER HER

Rhino Fund Uganda founder member Jane Adong Anywar was for much of her adult life a committed conservationist and has been described to ATCNews as a ‘pillar in conservation and law in Uganda‘.
Jane was the Commissioner of the Uganda Law Reform Commission, as mentioned a Founder member of Rhino Fund Uganda, a Founder member of Federations of Woman Lawyers, a Field council for ICC, one of the first legal officers at UWA and played a key role in interpreting the new law that started UWA and also crafted the UWEC trust deed and much much more.
Jane’s passing leaves a big gap in all those forae and she will be dearly missed by her many friends. Jane was 64 years of age and passed on Monday night in the northern Ugandan town of Gulu of an apparent heart attack.
In recognition of the work done by Jane has the Rhino Fund Uganda decided to name a youngborn rhino calf after her, foregoing the income the sale of the name with certain rights would bring.
The Rhino Fund Uganda will name their latest female calf in honor of Jane and they are naming the calf Anywar.
This calf is the first for mom Waribe who was herself also born on Ziwa Rhino Sanctuary, so Anywar will be a third generation rhino on Ziwa after the initial breeding stock of 6 and the second generation of rhinos born from them.
She was born on the 10th of October 2019 and her birth brought the number of rhino on the sanctuary to 30 overall, a massive success and entirely attributed to the dedicated management and staff of the Rhino Fund Uganda and their team on Ziwa.
