Following a market presence of Marriott’s Ritz Carlton brand in Africa in Egypt and Morocco will the global luxury brand now reportedly come to sub-Saharan Africa with an expected market entry into Tanzania.

It was learned that the hotel group intends to manage a lodge in the Serengeti National Park although the exact locaation is yet to be established, as are the partners of the hotelgroup which will build the lodge.

Ritz Carlton is the top tier luxury brand of Marriott International and operates some 108 hotels and resorts in 30 countries, offering over 29.000 rooms.

Future expansion of the brand is said to include a further 46 hotels, adding more than 8.700 new rooms in this market segment.

Tanzanian tourism stakeholders welcomed the news as it will bring a spotlight on the country which of late suffered serious controversy over the licensed killing of super tusker elephants migrated into Tanzania from the Kenyan Amboseli area, where they are protected as Kenya, since the late 1970’s, has banned hunting.
