#Rodrigues airport likely to remain closed for at least another day

NO FLIGHTS AS YET TO RODRIGUES AS AIRPORT REMAINS CLOSED FOR NOW

(Posted 27th March 2019)

Air Mauritius has issued a further bulletin regarding flights to the island of Rodrigues. The Plaine Corail Airport, for now at least, remains closed and only once authorities have cleared the resumption of operations can definitive answers be given about flights resuming between Sir Seewoosagur Ramgoolam International Airport on Mauritus and the island of Rodrigues.
It is not clear what damage the airport has sustained during the passage of Cyclone Joaninha which path took it directly across Rodrigues island.

Passengers are asked to remain in contact with the airline’s offices but should refrain from going to the airport at either end of the route, until an official notification has been issued that the airport on Rodrigues has reopened for flight operations. It is understood that damage assessment and clearing of debris is underway as heavy rains still lash the island.
