‘REMARKABLE RWANDA‘ RECEIVES MORE RECOGNITION

Remarkable Rwanda has been recognized with an award of excellence for the Best Small Booth at the New York Times Travel Show in the United States of America. Rwanda’s tourism and travel exhibitors in the Africa pavilion stood out in their cultural attire, locally called “Imicyenyero” complementing the unique stand.
According to Brad Kolodny, the Account Manager of the Travel Advertising Department at the New York Times Travel Show, “The certificate of excellence was awarded based on best presentation of information, booth designs, presence and utilisation of space.”
At the fair, in which Rwanda is participating for the third time in a row, there were several cultural performances and unique cultural manifestations that attracted the crowd.
Ms. Belise Kariza, the Chief Tourism Officer at the Rwanda Development Board upon receiving the news commented; ‘We are honored and encouraged to have been awarded as the Best Small Booth at the New York Times Travel Show this year. Together with our exhibitors at the stand, who comprised of tour operators, heli safaris and an Airline, we showcased our efficient and diverse tourism potential. This award, therefore, symbolizes to us the confidence that the global market has in our tourism offering‘.
The Travel Show is the largest and longest-running trade and consumer travel show in North America, featuring the Travel Industry Conference, Consumer Seminars, and an interactive Exhibition including more than 500 exhibitors from Africa, Asia, Australia/South Pacific, Canada, the Caribbean, Europe, Latin America, Mexico and the United States. It provided a great platform to showcase Rwanda’s tourism experiences on the global scene and also created an opportunity for Rwanda’s travel trade to meet, network and do business with their US counterparts.
Rwanda’s tourism sector continued to grow in the past years cementing its position as one of the key sources of foreign exchange for the country.
The New Year has begun on a positive note for the travel and tourism industry in Rwanda earlier this month they were present at the Vakantiebeurs Travel Fair in Netherlands, which raised Rwanda’s tourism potential as several Travel Trade and tourists in Utrecht picked great interest in the country. In addition, the American Luxury and Travel Magazine ranked Rwanda 14th globally as a global tourist destination, simultaneously the highly reputable media houses, Bloomberg and CNN featured Rwanda among the top 17 destinations for tourists this year. Other popular blogs such as San Francisco Chronicle and the LuxPad also featured Rwanda among their top 10 best destinations in 2017. The globally popular travel magazine, Conde Nast Traveler named Rwanda as the second best travel destination in Africa in 2017.
