Kwibuka 20 Commemoration
Rwanda, on January 7th, 2014, launched ‘Kwibuka20’, a series of events around the globe leading up to the 20th commemoration of the Genocide against the Tutsi. Kwibuka is the Kinyarwanda word for ‘remember’ and describes the global commemoration framework. Events leading to the main commemoration event that took place on April 7th, 2014 included the premiere of the Kwibuka20 Flame Tour (Flame of Remembrance that went around the 30 Districts of Rwanda, International Kwibuka conversations,Youth oriented events, Global Umuganda day and Your Voice initiatives. The 10th edition of the annual Kigali Marathon will take place on May 18th, 2014.
