RwandAir has taken delivery of a converted Boeing B737-800 freighter, the first dedicated cargo aircraft for the airline.
The aircraft, registered as 9XR-WW, will be mainly used on intra African routes, collecting and distributing palleted cargo.
Given the partnership with Qatar Airways will the new place enhance cargo services, via Kigali, into Africa.
The arrival of the cargo aircraft brings the RwandAir fleet to now 13 aircraft, which include two long haul Airbus A330’s, B737’s, CRJ900’s and Dash 8’s.
Elsewhere in the region has Kenya Airways also B737F’s in service, albeit of the B737-300 series, which has proved a major benefit for the airline in particular during the Covid19 pandemic, allowing KQ to boost earnings through cargo operations.
