In an not entirely unexpected move has RwandAir pulled the plug on their Mumbai flights, halting operations to India’s commercial capital already on the 15th of March, i.e. giving only two weeks notice.
The airline began flying to Mumbai seven years ago but there is speculation that especially after the pandemic halt of passenger flight operations the route failed to turn profits.
Competition in the region for Mumbai flights is high, with Uganda Airlines also serving Mumbai with their Airbus A330Neo and both Kenya Airways and Air Tanzania just announced an increase in flights between Nairobi and Dar es Salaam respectively to Mumbai.
Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Abeba and Qatar Airways via Doha also offer convenient connections to Mumbai.
Apart from the above announcement on social media has the airline as usual remained tightlipped about the real reasons of the destination getting shelved.
