RWANDAIR SELECTED TO HOST NEXT AFRAA AGA IN 2017

Information received from Victoria Falls, where AFRAA, the African Airlines Association is holding their Annual General Assembly, has confirmed that Mr. John Mirenge, CEO of RwandAir, has been elected as the next AFRAA President.
He will hold the rotating presidency for one year and RwandAir will be host airline for the 2017 AFRAA AGA49 to be held in Kigali.
For both RwandAir and for John Mirenge is his election and the choice of Rwanda as the host country for next year’s event a glowing endorsement of the achievements the airline has made in recent years.
Now already operating ten aircraft is RwandAir expecting the delivery in a week of another Airbus A330 before receiving one more brand new B737-800NG next May. This will bring the airline’s fleet to 12 aircraft overall though indications are that RwandAir is in advanced talks with Airbus for the purchase of another wide body aircraft as early as mid to late 2017.
After adding a number of additional destinations this year, among them Cotonou and Abidjan, is RwandAir commencing flights to Harare in January before then adding Mumbai, additional African destinations like Durban and Lilongwe before launching flights to London’s Gatwick Airport.
Closer to home is the airline’s own premium lounge at Kigali International Airport gaining shape. The new facility is due for official opening in a few weeks time, then affording business class and premium economy passengers additional comforts on the ground before either boarding their flight or while in transit.
Congratulations are extended to Mr. John Mirenge and to RwandAir for being chosen from among their peers to take on the AFRAA presidency and host next year’s summit.
