SAA celebrates landmark 15 years of flights to Uganda

SOUTH AFRICAN AIRWAYS CELEBRATES 15 YEARS OF FLIGHTS TO UGANDA

(Posted 09th November 2015)

Mrs. Yogi Birigwa, Country Manager of South African Airways in Uganda, was yesterday evening hosting the who is who of the Ugandan Diplomatic Corps, captains of industry, travel agents and the media when the airline celebrated their 15th year of flights between Johannesburg and Entebbe.

The daily flights, operated on Airbus A320 aircraft, connect Ugandan travelers not only with South Africa but allow for onward connections into the regional Southern African but also the international network of SAA, including flights to Australia and the United States of America.

Uganda only established diplomatic relations with South Africa after the Apartheid regime had come to an end and was part of a dedicated group of countries supporting the independence struggle. South African Airways introduced flights to Entebbe in 2000 after which the service was progressively moved up to daily level. SAA is the only airline currently flying nonstop between Uganda and South Africa.

The ‘Birthday Party‘ was held at the Kampala Serena Hotel where presently many companies are also hosting pre-Christmas parties for their clientele.
