Sauti za Busara 2017

Sauti za Busara is organised by Busara Promotions, an NGO registered in Zanzibar. The festival is one of ‘Africa’s best and most respected music events’(BBC World). After its first year of absence since 2004, Sauti za Busara resumes in Stone Town, Zanzibar during 9th – 12th February 2017. The full line up of artists and events will be announced in October. For four days and nights the festival plans to feature:

Live Performances: World-class music with 400 artists (40 groups) on stage – and no ‘playback’!
Roadshows & Carnival Parade: More excitement and ‘full mzuka’ around outlying districts of the city
Swahili Encounters: Local and visiting artists meet, exchange and collaborate
Movers & Shakers: Local and global industry professionals meet, network and exchange
Busara Xtra: Fringe events across the island, as organised by local communities

Sauti za Busara showcases quality, live, original music with cultural identity. At the same time it:

Promotes peace and respect for diversity
Creates jobs and develops livelihoods
Builds skills and provides training opportunities
Brings a huge boost for the local economy
Defends freedom of expression

Final Call for Artists

Sauti za Busara showcases music from the African Continent and diaspora. Artists from the Arab World and Indian Ocean region are also more than welcome to apply.

For consideration by the official selection committee, applications must include two recent recordings (on CD or DVD), a short biography and two quality photos. Only complete submissions will be considered.
