Serena first out of the starting blocks to offer combined Madaraka Express / Safari packages

SERENA HOTELS BEAT THE PACK BY BEING FIRST TO COMBINE NEW RAIL TRIP WITH TSAVO WEST SAFARI

(Posted 01st July 2017)

Serena Hotels are hard to beat when it comes to marketing new opportunities. As predicted last night in a related article https://atcnews.org/2017/06/30/more-train-services-from-july-onwards-to-link-nairobi-and-mombasa/
was it only a matter of time before one of the big league hospitality operators in Kenya was to launch packages tailored around the departures of the SGR passenger trains, now commonly known as Madaraka Express.
East Africa’s leading hotel, resort and safari lodge group has put promotions out for sale covering both the famous Mombasa Serena Beach Resort & Spa but also for their Kilaguni Lodge in the heart of Tsavo West National Park.
The user friendly packages include transfers from and to the destination railways station, either Mtito Andei or Mombasa, giving travelers an excellent option other than using air transport, as the transit time from Nairobi to Mombasa is just 4 1/2 hours while the trip to Mtito Andei only takes just over two hours.
Kenya Tourism Federation Chairman Mohammed Hersi has over the past weeks repeatedly encouraged the tourism industry to take advantage of the new mode of transport and given the uptake – since the launch of the new passenger trains a month ago have tens of thousands of travelers already used the railway – and here is now the first such example how the new rail service can substitute both road and air transport to bring local and foreign visitors to Tsavo and the Kenya Coast.
