Serena Hotels announces closure of safari lodges and camps

#COVID19 FORCES SERENA HOTELS TO CLOSE LODGES AND CAMPS IN TANZANIA AND KENYA

Information from Nairobi confirms that Serena Hotels, East Africa’s premier operator of city hotels, beach resorts, safari lodges and safari camps, has faced up to the reality of a collapse in demand cause by the aggressive spread of the Corona Virus and the movement restrictions placed, to various degrees, in the countries of operation.

Said Mr. Mahmoud Janmohamed, CEO of Serena Hotels: ‘Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to those who have been affected by this unprecedented event and our heartfelt gratitude and admiration is extended to the healthcare workers, local communities and governments in Africa and globally working on the front line to contain this pandemic.
As we refine our business model to anticipate, connect and respond through these troubling times, management expressed its appreciation to all our staff, customers, shareholders, various stakeholders, Board of Directors for their continuous support, understanding, trust and confidence in Serena Hotels.

It should be noted that according to the notice will city hotels and resorts remain open for now apart from the Mombasa Serena Beach Resort & Spa, which was due to close for a major refurbishment.
