| Serena is seeking to establish an alternative source of livelihood people that live around its areas of operation. Given Serena tree planting activities over the years, survival of the trees has been noted to be about 60%. The unaccounted 40% is attributed to either animal destruction or human activities. To curb this therefore, Serena Hotels is considering working with the members of the communities around its establishments to set up energy saving jikos.
