EAST AFRICA’S LEADING HOSPITALITY BRAND SHOWS IMPROVED FINANCIAL RESULTS AS INVESTMENTS PAY OFF
(Posted 27th April 2019)
Serena Hotels’s holding company TPS East Africa reported profits of 179 million Kenya Shillings for the 2018 financial year, up from just under 120 million Kenya Shillings for the year 2017.
Sales during the past financial year rose by a modest three percent to some 6.5 billion Kenya Shillings, which makes Serena arguably the leading company in its field, not just in Kenya but across Eastern Africa where the company owns or manages properties.
With footholds in Kenya, Uganda, Tanzania, Rwanda and Mozambique will Congo join the Serena ranks when later this year a brand new hotel in Goma is opening its doors.
Notably, after completing a major work scope at the Kampala Serena Hotel, which saw the addition of a further 36 rooms and suites, including a magnificent Presidential Suite, will the Kampala Serena Conference Centre be refurbished and technologically upgraded to the latest industry standards for conference and meeting facilities.
The Nairobi Serena Hotel has completed half of their upgrades in terms of rooms and work on the second wing is expected to be completed later this year too.
These investments ensured that for Uganda is the Kampala Serena Hotel by far the leading hotel while in Nairobi does the Nairobi Serena remain in the top tier of 5 star luxury hotels.
