Let’s talk turtles!
Did you know about Serena Hotels’ turtle conservation project? Well, this is based at the Serena Beach Resort & Spa and has for decades now protected the nesting sites of Green, Olive Ridley and Hawksbill turtles. The project continues to grow significantly and continues to benefit not just the turtles but also the local fishermen. Since inception of the project, over 450 turtle nests have been protected as were reported and secured with the help of the local fishermen, beach operators and Kenya Wildlife Service Rangers. During this period thousands of eggs have been secured at the Hotel hatcheries of which up to 80% hatchlings have been released into the Indian Ocean. Read more…… |
