DISCOVER THE REAL PRIDE LANDS
The long awaited launch of the remake of the all-time Disney high grossing film, Lion King is almost here! In celebration of its 25th anniversary, this bestselling film will come to life yet again in July. The animation movie is a reenactment of the original 1994 film which features the adventures of a pride of lions; Simba, Mufasa, Scar, Nala in “The Pride Lands”-Serengeti. The Serengeti is referred to as Pride Lands because it prides itself in having a fifth of the world’s lion population. This presents an opportunity for you to visit and stay with us at Serengeti Serena Safari Lodge that is set in the heart of Serengeti. Our experienced guides will not only help you sight the Big Five including the “king of the jungle” during your game drive, but also give you a rare chance to learn Swahili to help you sing along to the popular “Hakuna Matata” song, sang by Timon and Pumba in the animation. Lion King is about to bring out East Africa’s magic and we can’t wait for you to experience it with us.

BUY LOCAL BUILD LOCAL"If you want to go fast go alone, if you want to go far go together.”
This saying is synonymous with the collective work put in to achieve a common goal. Sustainable tourism business practices form part of Serena Hotels ethos and is an intrinsic part to our day-to-day operations. One of the key pillars of our sustainability practices is to improve the lives of the people, environment and wildlife in which we operate. This is not limited to our own projects but also includes forming solid partnerships with likeminded individuals and corporates. Since November 2018, Kigali Serena Hotel has partnered with Kigali Farmers ‘and Artisan Market (KFAAM) to create a platform where local farmers and artisans can easily reach consumers. 85% of the vendors are women, youth and people living with disabilities. Not only does Kigali Serena provide a venue for the vendors to sell their goods, but also supports their business initiatives by enabling some of the vendors to be part of Serena’s supply chain. This reiterates the company’s commitment in aligning its programs with the UNDP Sustainable Development Goals that promote partnerships and sustained economic growth. The success of Kigali’s market has seen the creation on Serena’s regional synergies with the same concept being extended to other properties such as Serena Beach Resort & Spa in Kenya. Kigali Serena Hotel will continue to host KFAAM every month except in January and April with the aim of supporting the livelihoods of the vendors. Guests staying with us during the market day can purchase items from the artisans which they can take back home as souvenirs. #Buylocalbuildlocal
Kigali’s next market day is 1st June; lookout for further details on our social media pages:
