The General Manager of the Kampala Serena Hotel, Mr. Anthony Chege, described the change of dress code on Friday as a celebration of Uganda’s many cultures and traditions, bringing to their guests’ attention a close up look of the style and fashion of tribal clothing, worn on special occasions.
Visitors to the hotel and guests staying there were surprised when they saw how the entire management team had left their uniforms and suits at home for the day and came to work donning the colourful dresses found in the Baganda tradition while the men wore the traditional ‘Kanzu’, a full length white tunic or robe with a few embroideries around the neck.
After posing for some pictures for posterity did the staff then get on with their day’s work, eliciting many positive comments from guests, many encouraged to take to Google and find out more about the rich history and culture of the main tribes and their kingdoms or chiefdoms found in Uganda.
