MORE MEDIA, MORE PARTICIPANTS AND MORE VISITORS – THE SEYCHELLES CARNIVAL IS SET FOR A NEW RECORD

Twenty three countries will this year be represented as ‘actors and performers‘ in the 2016 edition of the Carnaval de Carnivals, the Carnival International de Victoria.
Among them is notably also Ethiopia, going by recollection for the first time taking part as a country, while some of the big five names, the Notting Hill Carnival from the UK as well as two troupes from different cities in Germany – also a first – a Brazilian delegation and one from Italy, among many many others, will give spectators no doubt an eye candy during the main parade.
The carnival this year kicks off in two weeks (and a day) from today on 22nd of April and runs until the 24th of April.
The main parade will take place through Victoria, but with a modified routing to give more spectators the chance to see the juggernaut waltzing through the world’s smallest capital, on Saturday afternoon, 23rd of April.

Print and electronic media, radio and TV stations from around the world now send teams to the Seychelles to cover this event, the biggest on the annual calendar of events which speaks for itself when promoting the carnival in Victoria.
Flights to the archipelago from Africa are operated by Kenya Airways via Nairobi and Ethiopian Airlines via Addis Ababa while the leading Gulf carriers Emirates – offering double daily departures on B777 aircraft – and Etihad, partner airline of home carrier Air Seychelles, also flies double daily between Abu Dhabi and Mahe, in code share with Air Seychelles.
Qatar Airways will add daily flights later in the year between Doha and Mahe but sadly not in time for this year’s carnival event.

I would love to report on the carnival having have lived and worked there. I am a journalist who lives in Mombasa Kenya and my record speaks for itself. I cannot understand why we are not participating.
Kenya in fact had a group of Maasai at the Carnival last year but
not in a major way, such as being a co-organizer. Philip Mwakio of
the Standard has on I believe two or three occasions been on Mahe
for the event and has reported about it.
