Earlier this week did the Seychelles Hotel and Tourism Association hold its annual general meeting at the Seychelles Conference Centre in Victoria.
High on the agenda was the election of the new executive including the position of chair person.
Congratulations are extended to Mrs. Sibylle Cardon on her re-election as Chairperson of SHTA.
Elected as Vice Chair was Mr. Alan Mason who takes over the role from Mr. Eddie d’Offay who has stepped down after 2 years in the position. Mr. Rod Thorrington was also re-elected as the Treasurer and the Honourable Secretary remains Mrs. Daniella Payet-Alis who too was re-elected to this position..

According to information received from Victoria will the Association this year continue to build on what have already been achieved during the past years. As Mrs. Sybille Cardon reiterated ‘since the tourism sector is, without doubt, our most important economic pillar, it follows that, if our Association is to operate effectively on behalf of its members, an open dialogue must be maintained with the Government. I can report to you that this relationship and interface between private and public sectors has been a priority for the Association and that it has generally worked very well. We have developed key relationships with Ministries and have been able to influence Government policy‘.

With all the rapid developments in the tourism sector, the SHTA is committed to be the voice of the industry in prompting the continued progression and excellence of the hospitality industry.
The SHTA advocates principles of high business ethics, accountability, service excellence, honesty and innovation.

Formed in 2002 following a merger between the Seychelles Hotel Association (SHA) and the Small Hotels and Guesthouses Association (SHGA), SHTA is now a comprehensive all inclusive tourism trade association comprising around 140 members. Those include properties from large five star resort hotels to the smallest guesthouses and self-catering establishments. Also within their community, are other associations, Banks, Restaurants, Airlines, and DMCs.
