NEW WEBSITE FOR THE SEYCHELLES TERMED ‘A WINNER

(Posted 09th November 2014)

The Seychelles Islands went to London last week to showcase a new look at this year’s World Travel Market. Seychelles’ Tourism Board used the opportunity to launch its new destination video, consumer and niche brochures and a spruced up state of the art website, all aimed to show off the archipelago’s many attractions from their sunniest side.

The new marketing collaterals were launched at a cocktail at the Seychelles stand on Monday evening to an audience of some 50 people including the travel trade and the travel press.

Speaking at the launch, the Seychelles’ Minister for Tourism and Culture, Alain St.Ange, said that the new video views Seychelles through fresh eyes and is characterized by stunning images set to a sound track that is very much Creole and which provides a vibrant backdrop to the imagery.

He explained that the video is accompanied by a suite of niche videos covering such markets as diving, fishing, sailing, romance, eco-tourism and golf, which all help to raise the profile of Seychelles as a destination.

As for our news destination brochure, our brief was to create a smaller brochure that would be cheaper to produce and distribute and which drills down to the needs of the consumer by providing useful information, maps and important contact details’ he said.

Minister St. Ange then described the new website, which has a fresh look and has been designed with new features – such as 360 virtual tours, interactive maps of all the accommodations, attractions and restaurants in Seychelles – as another important tool to discover the destination.

Today, Seychelles is one of the destinations that are most talked about on the tourism market and the interest to travel to our islands is greater than ever before. We needed to match up that interest, that excitement out there and to let people know who we are and what we have to offer’ explained the minister.

The Chief Executive of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Ms. Sherin Naiken, also spoke of how the new marketing tools are representing a ‘new’ Seychelles and said these will help her organization and the local trade to better market the destination and their product.

The Seychelles tourism profile has changed a lot since the last video was done seven years ago. Today the destination is more vibrant, more exciting and we have introduced so much more activities for our travellers. All these have been well covered in the video, brochure and website’ she said.

Glynn Burridge, Tourism Consultant and Copywriter of the Seychelles Tourism Board and Vahid Jacob, Manager of E-Marketing, made brief presentations of the new marketing tools before officially launching the video, brochure and website.

The new marketing collaterals have been welcomed by the visitors to the Seychelles stand, who felt that a lot of efforts have been put into creating attractive, modern and user-friendly tools that respond to the needs of the trade and consumers.

Special Takamaka Bay cocktails were served during the launch event where guests had the chance to savour this wonderful spirit from the Seychelles.
