AIR SEYCHELLES ANNOUNCES THE HALT OF DOMESTIC SCHEDULED FLIGHTS

During ‘regular’ peak seasons periods does Air Seychelles operate more than 2 dozen daily scheduled flights between the main island of Mahe and the second largest island of Praslin.
Following the halt of tourist arrivals to the islands by government order, were the domestic flights over the past two weeks reduced to a morning and evening service.
Now, with yet stricter directives from the Seychelles government, has the airline decided to halt these remaining two services too.
Wrote the airline just moments ago to ATCNews:
Air Seychelles has today announced that the airline will be suspending its domestic services temporarily effective tomorrow, Friday, 10th of April 2020.
The decision was taken following guidance and intensified measures being implemented by the health authorities, including the importance of maintaining social distancing against the spread of COVID-19.
The last returning flight to be operated will depart Praslin in the late afternoon today and the airline is expected to resume its schedule of service by 01st of May, 2020.
In the meantime, essential companies requesting for flights will be accepted on a charter basis.

The only connection now between the three main islands are the ferries, but even there are social distancing directives in place to avoid the spread of
#COVID19.
Seychelles currently has 11 such cases under quarantine.
