Seychelles Ministry of Foreign Affairs revises list of countries allowed to enter

UGANDA CONSPICUOUSLY ABSENT FROM LIST OF COUNTRIES FROM WHERE ENTRY TO SEYCHELLES IS NOW PERMITTED

(Posted 21st October 2020)

Negligence or oversight, that is the question many people are asking after Seychelles published an amended list with African countries allowed to enter the archipelago but left out Uganda.
Botswana, Burundi, Ivory Cost, Ghana, Kenya, Malawi, Niger, Rwanda, South Africa and Zimbabwe residents are now allowed to visit the Seychelles – always subject to meeting a range of conditions including a negative COVID19 test – yet most of these countries have significantly higher case numbers than Uganda. South Africa exceeds 700.000 cases now, Kenya has reached the 40.000 range and many others of the countries listed exceed Uganda’s case numbers by far, yet has the Pearl of Africa been left out of the list.

The newly amended list is valid since the 19th of October and representation has already been made to bring Uganda into the fold, but so far without any official reaction.

In addition to the above list, with effect from 01st of October 2020, visitors from France, United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom are permitted to enter Seychelles subject to additional health security measures, again countries which have become hotspots of the pandemic such as France and the UK, leaving one to wonder what Seychellois officials were thinking, or if they were thinking at all.
