TOP RESORT IN SEYCHELLES TO CHANGE MANAGEMENT

One of the world’s most famous luxury island retreats, North Island in the Seychelles, is to be managed by Marriott International’s Luxury Collection, it was learned.
While Marriott has been present in the Seychelles through some of their brands will the arrival of the Luxury Collection mark the entry into the very top tier of global luxury resorts.
Speaking about the signing, Bruce Simpson, the Managing Director of North Island, said: “We are delighted to join the exclusive collection of properties under The Luxury Collection. North Island is the perfect fit for a brand that stands for such exclusive luxury, while recognising the importance of sustainable development, and we look forward to building on the position of the island as one of the world’s most aspirational private-island destinations”.
Simpson also paid tribute to Wilderness Safaris, the Southern African ecotourism company who first created and then developed the Island and who has played an invaluable contribution to the evolution of North Island since its inception in 1997: “We look forward to their continued support as a partner, as The Luxury Collection further strengthens the Island’s position in the global luxury travel market”.
Jerome Briet, CDO of Marriott International and responsible for the MEA region which includes Africa, added his own voice when he said: “We are excited to further expand The Luxury Collection portfolio across the Middle East and Africa with the addition of our first property in one of the world’s most desirable destinations, the Seychelles‘.
North Island has in the past played host to Royals, the who is who in the world of show business, captains of industry and high finance and the rich and famous who seek out the privacy of the just 11 secluded villas on the 200plus hectares large island. Among such guests were the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge, the Clooneys and the Beckhams, among many other high profile names who came to North Island for their honeymoon.
