Seychelles stands at a pivotal crossroads, and the time for real, transformative change is now. Alain St. Ange, a globally respected leader with decades of experience in tourism, governance, and business, has answered the call from both the business community and the Seychellois people to once again serve his country—this time as an independent candidate for President. Together with Daniella Payet, a decorated entrepreneur in tourism and healthcare, they are championing the cause of national independence. Their vision is rooted in breaking free from partisan control and offering the Seychellois people a leadership that unites, empowers, and delivers tangible results for the country.
At the heart of the Lalyans Nouvo Sesel movement is a deep commitment to the sovereignty of Seychelles. Our islands are the lifeblood of our nation—they are not for sale to foreign interests. They are a sacred trust, and we are resolute in our mission to preserve them for future generations. Every Seychellois deserves unrestricted access to their land, their heritage, and their future. Our resources must be managed responsibly, with a focus on long-term sustainability for the benefit of all, not a select few.
We are also committed to tackling the issues of reckless, wasteful government spending. Under the current administration, we have seen an alarming trend of self-serving policies that reward politicians at the expense of the Seychellois people. Luxurious allowances—such as a clothing allowance for politicians—while ordinary citizens struggle to make ends meet, highlight the vast disconnect between the governing elite and the citizens they are supposed to serve. Furthermore, the current government lowered its own pension age while raising it for the rest of the population, reflecting an unjustified disparity. These actions serve as a stark reminder of a government that prioritizes its own interests over the well-being of the people. We will change this by demanding responsible financial management and redirecting resources to where they are needed most.
Economic diversification is crucial to Seychelles; resilience and future prosperity.
One of the most promising sectors for growth is fisheries. However, this industry must be restructured to ensure that it serves the interests of Seychellois people, rather than foreign entities. Current fishing agreements disproportionately benefit foreign vessels, particularly those from Europe, while Seychellois are left bearing the environmental and resource depletion costs. We will renegotiate these agreements to empower local operators and ensure fairer distribution of benefits, allowing Seychellois businesses and families to reap the rewards of their own resources. This will create new job opportunities and sustainable livelihoods for our people.
Agro-tourism is another area with immense potential. Seychelles; rich tropical agriculture offers a unique opportunity to blend the beauty of our natural environment with sustainable farming practices. Through farm stays, culinary tours, and sustainable farming demonstrations, we can provide visitors with authentic, immersive experiences that highlight the essence of our islands. Agro-tourism not only supports local farmers but also promotes sustainable agricultural practices, fostering a closer connection between Seychellois communities and the visitors who come to our shores.
Healthcare is a top priority for the Lalyans Nouvo Sesel movement. We understand that access to quality healthcare is not a privilege but a fundamental right for every Seychellois. Our goal is to overhaul and strengthen the healthcare system to ensure it meets the needs of every citizen. This will require significant investment in healthcare infrastructure—from modernizing and expanding medical facilities to ensuring that they are clean, efficient, and welcoming environments. We will enhance hospital and clinic facilities across the islands, increasing the availability of essential services in every district. No Seychellois should be forced to travel long distances for medical care. A critical part of this strategy will be increasing parking at medical centers to improve accessibility for patients and their families. In tandem, we will ensure that our medical staff receive continuous training to meet the highest standards of care, while also updating our medical equipment to ensure state-of-the-art healthcare. We recognize that our healthcare system is only as strong as the professionals who work tirelessly on the frontlines. To build a sustainable healthcare system, we must invest in the well-being of our medical staff. This means implementing substantial pay increases for our doctors, nurses, technicians, and support staff—the true pillars of our healthcare system. By offering competitive salaries, we will improve retention rates, attract top-tier talent, and ensure that our healthcare professionals are adequately compensated for their invaluable contributions. These improvements will be essential in ensuring that every Seychellois has access to the care they deserve.
Seychelles is also grappling with significant social challenges. The drug crisis, rising underage pregnancies, and youth-related issues are threatening the future of our society. We are committed to tackling these issues head-on with comprehensive prevention programs, improved youth education, and stronger community-based support systems. We must provide our youth with the tools they need to thrive, and we will prioritize education and awareness initiatives to equip them for a successful
future.
Conservation and environmental responsibility are fundamental pillars of our vision for the future of Seychelles. Our islands; natural environment is a priceless treasure, and we must act as responsible stewards of it. We will focus on sustainable practices, proper waste management, and stronger conservation efforts to protect our oceans, forests, and wildlife. Ensuring the preservation of our biodiversity and resources is not only vital for our ecosystem but for the future prosperity of our
nation.
Alain St. Ange has dedicated his life to fighting for what is right—whether standing up to political persecution, rebuilding from nothing after self-exile, or elevating Seychelles onto the global stage. His resilience proves that true leadership is about action, vision, and unwavering commitment to the people. Alain’s contributions to tourism and governance have been internationally recognized, with numerous accolades, including an honorary doctorate, the Mahatma Gandhi Award, the Global Achievers Award, and the Lifetime Achievement Award for Promotion of the Travel Trade at ITB Berlin in 2025.
Daniella Payet represents the strength and resilience of Seychellois women—who are the backbone of our society. As the only female candidate on any ticket, Daniella brings a wealth of experience in tourism, business, and healthcare. A decorated leader in her own right, she has received numerous accolades, including Africa’s Most Influential Women in Business and Government Award (2017) and the Continental Award for the African Continent in Tourism & amp; Leisure. Her leadership will ensure that Seychelles’ future is shaped with inclusivity, expertise, and integrity.
This election represents a defining moment for Seychelles.
For the first time in history, Seychellois have the opportunity to elect independent leaders who will prioritize the people over party politics. This means ending nepotistic appointments, eliminating a government that serves itself, and ensuring leadership based on merit, transparency, and the best interests of the nation. Independence for the nation, unity for the people—Seychelles deserves a future free from political manipulation. A future where every Seychellois has a voice, an opportunity, and a stake in the country’s prosperity. The time for waiting is over. The time for action is now.
