Today, we honour the thousands of Seychellois public servants who keep our country running — the teachers, nurses, police officers, social workers, and administrators who show up every day with dedication, integrity, and care.
But let’s also speak the truth.
While our frontline workers continue to serve under mounting pressure, stagnant wages, and rising living costs — our politicians reward themselves with perks, bonuses, and pensions that most public servants can only dream of.
A minister or MNA can retire at 55 with a comfortable pension.
But a teacher, a cleaner, a police officer? Work until 65.
Is that fair?
They call it “public service” — but who is really being served?
Real dignity for public servants means pay that reflects their value, not just words once a year. It means fair pensions, decent working conditions, and removing the gap between the privileged few at the top and the rest who keep this nation afloat.
At Lalyans Nouvo Sesel, we say enough with the double standards.
It’s time to put the public back at the heart of public service.
