On the 27th of August will the Seychelles Tourism Board launch a year long campaign, building up to the celebrations of 250 years since the first settlement on the archipelago was recorded in the history books.
A new logo and brand identity will be launched in August too as Sherin Francis, CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board said: ‘The celebration is not merely commemorating the anniversary of the first settlement, but it is also celebrating the birth of Seychelles – 250 years of Seychelles. As proud Seychellois, it is our duty to make sure that we celebrate this achievement as it should be‘.
Tourism is the Seychelles’ mainstay economic activity, accounting for the most jobs and the highest foreign exchange earnings. The industry has enjoyed an uninterrupted growth period since 2008, following the financial meltdown of 2007 which saw arrival numbers tumble.
Since then however has the tourism board engaged in a marketing juggernaut which allowed the islands to punch way above their ‘weightclass‘, recording one arrival record after the next for the past 10 years.
