(Posted 03rd March 2018)
The Seychelles Tourism Academy, one of Africa’s leading hospitality and tourism training institutions, has recently renewed their partnership agreements with the Shannon University in Ireland and the Constance Hotels Hospitality Centre in Mauritius.
Both institutions have been working with STA for many years and students as well as lecturers from the Seychelles Tourism Academy have benefitted from training opportunities and in the case of Shannon advanced academic studies to the levels of Bachelor Degree and Master Degree courses.
The cooperation with the Constance Hotels Hospitality Centre can now look back at a decade of close partnership with dozens of students benefiting from the exchanges and the Shannon College of Hotel Management has been the closest partner to STA since the academy began a radical transformation ten years ago and massive investments by the Seychelles government into the institutions facilities.
Long serving principal of STA, Mr. Flavien Joubert, was quoted to have said that the agreement will provide Seychellois students more options to further develop themselves in the tourism industry. He also added that last year five students were recognized and awarded by President Faure for their good performances and that these five students will be offered a scholarship for a six months internship in Mauritius next year.
Present at the signing of the MoU’s was the Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine Mr. Maurice Loustau-Lalanne, Principal Secretary Ms. Anne Lafortune, the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board Mrs. Sherin Francis and the General Manager of STA Mr. Peter Moncherry among other dignitaries and invited guests.
