ARRIVALS CROSS THE 80.000 THRESHOLD BEFORE THE THE END OF Q1

The Seychelles have for the first time crossed the 80.000 arrivals threshold before the end of the first quarter and notably so in a year when Easter, a very travel intensive period, falls in mid April.
Arrival numbers as of last weekend were 18 percent ahead of the year 2016 with 81.187 visitors compared to the 68.887, itself a new record set last year.
Further growth is expected now that Air Seychelles has taken delivery of another Airbus A330 and is launching flights to Duesseldorf / Germany, a market which has so far topped arrival numbers in 2017 ahead of France, the UAE, Russia, China and Italy. The national airline will also deploy their A330 on select regional routes and to Johannesburg while shortly also launching twice weekly flights on Airbus A320 to the South African port city of Durban.
Earlier in the week had the CEO of the Seychelles Tourism Board, Mrs. Sherin Francis, bemoaned the lack of enough hotel beds on the main island of Mahe in the face of strong additional demand for holidays on the archipelago.
