Key Tourism Seychelles officials together with tourism stakeholders earlier today welcomed the arrival of the first flight of Discover – a Lufthansa Group leisure airline – after the carrier resumed flight operations from Frankfurt to Mahe.

A welcome ceremony was held to mark the occasion. It was attended by Mrs. Sherin Francis, Principal Secretary for Tourism; Mrs. Bernadette Willemin, Director General for Destination Marketing; the CEOs of Seychelles Civil Aviation Authority and the Seychelles Airport Authority.
Mr. Bernd Bauer, the CEO of Discover Airlines, who arrived on the inaugural flight also joined the celebration. The airline will now fly to Seychelles twice a week, on Sundays and Tuesdays, giving much needed extra seats from Germany to the paradise islands as demand for vacations in the Seychelles keeps growing in the German and German speaking markets.

The inaugural flight landed on Mahe a day after the swearing in of the newly elected President Dr. Patrick Herminie. In his upcoming ministerial appointments he will no doubt recognize the importance of the tourism sector as the number one and widely leading economic sector for the Seychelles.
