Seychelles’ Tourism Minister in India to promote his paradise islands

SEYCHELLES TOURISM WORKS THE INDIAN MARKET

The highly respected political icon of the State of Tamil Nadu, Mr Muthuvelan Karunanidhi on Wednesday this week welcomed Minister Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles Minister responsible for Tourism and Culture to his offices.

The Seychelles Minister and his delegation were in Chennai on a working visit to increase awareness of the Seychelles as a tourism destination to the Indian holiday makers and to work to develop more trade between Seychellois entrepreneurs and their Indian Counterparts..

The Minister was accompanied to this visit by Sherin Naiken, the CEO of the Tourism Board, M. S. Sai, the Seychelles Honorary Consul in Chennai, Ramu Pillay, Kannan Pillay, Shanmugam Pillay and Durai Pillay .

Mr Muthuvelan Karunanidhi has been Chief Minister of the Tamil Nadu State for six terms and still remains a sitting Member of the Legislative Assembly after over two decades.

Minister St.Ange and Mr Karunanidhi discussed the closeness of the islands of the Seychelles, the population with its own Indian population with many still having strong links with family in the Tamil Nadu State amongst many other matters. "We were overtaken by this meeting, not because of politics, but because of his lifelong dedication to his people and country which has earned him the respect to be regarded as a political icon. We are thrilled that Mr Muthuvelan Karunanidhi received us personally to his offices. We shall all cherish this meeting with such a respected personally" said Minister St.Ange to the gathered press as he left the offices of Mr Muthuvelan Karunanidhi in Chennai.

Air Seychelles connects the archipelago several times a week with Mumbai, using an Airbus A320 on the route from Mahe. From Mumbai do code share arrangements with partner airline Jet Airways then open up several other key Indian cities with seamless connections, including Chennai.
