Seychelles tourism private sector expresses support for St. Ange UNWTO candidature

PRIVATE SECTOR IN SUPPORT OF ST. ANGE CANDIDATURE TOO

The Seychelles Hospitality and Tourism Association (SHTA) has endorsed Alain St.Ange as the Seychelles candidate for the post of Secretary General of the UNWTO (United Nations World Tourism Organisation)

A letter of endorsement was forwarded to the former Tourism Minister St.Ange by Sybille Cardon, the Chairperson of the Association to express their support and endorsement.

The decision to support Alain St.Ange was taken at the last Executive Board Meeting of the Association following a resolution taken being tabled for a vote, which was unanimous.

In their letter of endorsement Mrs Cardon says that Alain St.Ange as Minister has been a good facilitator for the cause of tourism and that he remained a advocate for the public / private sector partnership that exists in the country.

Members of the island’s Tourism Industry also organised a farewell cocktail some two weeks ago at the Avani Barbarons Hotel saying that this was an opportunity to say thank you to their former Minister.

Alain St.Ange was very thankful for this endorsement saying that the recognition and words of appreciation was indeed good to hear. ‘The SHTA are part of the front line team of our industry and have their finger on the pulse always. We worked well for many many years together and I say a big thank you to Madame Cardon and the Association for their letter of endorsement‘ said Alain St.Ange.

Alain St.Ange, the Seychelles immediate former Minister for Tourism, Civil Aviation, Ports and Marine is a candidate competing for the post of Secretary General of the UNWTO and he is currently in Madrid to officially lodge bis bid as the Seychelles, Vanilla Islands and other groupings Candidate for the elections that are set to take place in May this year.
