(Posted 10th October 2017)

The Seychelles Tourism Board took to the road hosting its fourth dedicated roadshow across five Nordic cities.

The 2017 Nordic roadshow led by STB’s Marketing Director for the Nordics region, Karen Confait, started in Oslo moving to Helsinki, Copenhagen, Stockholm and ending in Gothenburg.

Travel trade representatives from Seychelles who participated in the event included: Banyan Tree Seychelles – Patricia de Mayer; Denis Private Island/Indian Ocean Lodge/CaranaBeach – Bessie Etienne, H Resort Beau Vallon Beach – Fabienne Tirant; Le Duc de Praslin/Valmer Resort/La Digue Island Lodge – Derek Savy; Masons Travel – Amy Michel; Savoy Resort & Spa/Coral Strand Hotel – Alexandra Mileenkova and Air Seychelles – Victor von Schweinitz.

In each city, the Seychelles Tourism Board and its local trade partners hosted the agents to an elegant evening of dinner and presentations in well-known luxurious venues in the heart of the capital cities. The evenings started off with one-on-one discussions followed by various presentations by the trade partners. In the smaller city of Gothenburg 20 travel agents were given the opportunity to learn more about the various products Seychelles has to offer, over a lunch presentation, after which they had more networking opportunities.

To conclude each evening, Air Seychelles offered two tickets which were awarded to the lucky winners of a raffle draw. The winners will take part in a Pan-Nordic FAM trip to Seychelles next year.

STB’s Marketing Director for the Nordics region, Karen Confait said the 2017 edition of the roadshow saw a great turnout across all five cities, with some 270 participants recorded in total. Through the Nordic roadshow, STB targets new travel agents, tour operators and MICE agencies, with the aim of educating and enticing them to offer the destination to their clients.

Overall it was very successful roadshow, which saw the participation of some of the best agents and tour operators. While many of our currents partners attended, we also had a good turnout of new potential partners who are very keen to start selling Seychelles‘ said Ms Confait.

She noted that the roadshow is one of the highlights on the Nordics’ travel trade calendar, adding that the format adopted where the participants are treated to presentations over dinner in a relaxed atmosphere, is one that is much appreciated by the travel trade.

We get a lot of support from the travel trade in the region and this year we have seen an even bigger demand and interest. We have conducted several joint marketing campaigns and events, through which all partners have confirmed that sales bookings for Seychelles have gone up considerably‘ added Ms Confait.

The increased interest is also clearly visible in terms of the number of visitors travelling to Seychelles from the Nordics including from Norway, Finland, Denmark, and Sweden, with statistics showing a significant increase of 49% in September this year, compared to the same period last year. Sweden is the largest source market for Seychelles from that region.

Ms Confait concluded: ‘The new airline dynamics this year has contributed to the growth, with many more flight options to Seychelles, with the respective airlines having been very aggressive on the market and really pushing the destination into the limelight‘.

The next dedicated Seychelles’ Nordics roadshow is planned for September 2018.
