NO MINISTER FOR NATURAL RESOURCES AND TOURISM NAMED AS PRESIDENT MAGUFULI INTRODUCES HIS CABINET
(Posted 11th December 2015)
In line with President Maguguli’s first few weeks in office and the changes he already introduced in the way how Tanzania is being governed, has he earlier today announced part of his cabinet which will be lean – and likely very mean on corrupt bureaucrats, business tycoons and government officials. Only 18 portfolios were named and his cabinet will have 19 Ministers and some 15 Deputy Ministers.
Only seven Ministers from the previous Kikwete regime made it back into the new cabinet, serving notice to the nation that only those who work hard and tolerate no nonsense vis a vis corruption and other ills, will be working with President Magufuli. Notably did Dr. Hussein Mwinyi retain the portfolio of Defense and National Service.
To the surprise of the tourism and conservation fraternity was however no Minister named as yet for the portfolio of Natural Resources and Tourism, suggesting that the president perhaps prefers a new broom to deal with the menace of poaching and to revitalize the country’s tourism sector which has faced major challenges this year.
A further three ministries also still await the announcement who will be moving into the executive suite.
