The 2026 Skytrax World Airport Awards held at the Passenger Terminal Expo (PTE World) in London, United Kingdom. The awards are based on Skytrax’s extensive global passenger survey, capturing feedback from travellers of over 100 nationalities across more than 575 airports worldwide.
On the African continent, only two airports ranked among the global top 100: Cape Town International Airport, which placed 74th globally (down from 62nd in 2025), and O.R. Tambo International Airport, ranked 84th (a decline from 75th in 2025).
Despite the slight drop in global rankings, Cape Town International Airport once again reaffirmed its continental leadership, securing the title of Best Airport in Africa for the 11th consecutive year. The airport also earned recognition for Best Airport Staff in Africa and Cleanest Airport
in Africa, underscoring its consistent excellence in service quality and
passenger experience.
In the Best Regional Airport in Africa category, Marrakech Menara Airport claimed the top position, highlighting strong performance in the regional airport segment.
Overall, the rankings continue to be dominated by airports in North, Southern, and East Africa, with no West African airport featuring among the top performers—reflecting ongoing regional disparities in infrastructure, service quality, and passenger experience.
