“So, elephants in one area may be locally extinct, but a few hundred kilometers down the road, they are heavily over populated, to put it, basically. And that’s the situation around Africa,” said Richard Sowry who has been a section ranger in the far north of the Kruger National Park since 2002. “The density of elephants up here is high enough that every single tree has got what I term unsustainable impact on it in this riverine forest,” he said. |
