WORLD TRAVEL AWARDS RECOGNIZE THE INDIAN OCEAN’S BEST

It is quality which matters over quantity when it comes to the Indian Ocean islands tourism industry and the formation of the Indian Ocean Vanilla Islands Organization has certainly reaffirmed this approach. Competition for top awards was therefore substantial and those companies and organizations claiming this year’s World Travel Awards have been confirmed to stand a head above others in being recognized as the market leaders.
Air Mauritius claimed once again the top slot as the Indian Ocean’s Leading Airline, sweetened by also claiming top spot for their acclaimed airport lounge, the Amedee Maingaard Lounge at the Sir Seewoosagur Ramgolaam International Airport near the capital Port Louis.
The Seychelles in turn claimed the honours for being the Indian Ocean’s Leading Cruise Destination as well as having Port Victoria named as the Indian Ocean’s leading cruise port.
Overall did the Maldives emerge as top dogs with 12 individual awards, followed by Mauritius with 6 such individual awards, Seychelles with five, Madagascar with two and Reunion with one which went to the acclaimed Lux***** de la Reunion.
