Three weeks and counting to the 2015 edition of the Magical Kenya Travel Expo

KWALE COUNTY GOVERNOR JOINS KTB’S MURIITHI NDEGWA TO LAUNCH MKTE2015

(Posted 23rd September 2015)

In a fine example how a county government can work hand in hand with the Kenya Tourist Board has the Kwale Governor Salim Mvurya stood by side with KTB’s CEO Muriithi Ndegwa, launching the countdown towards the 5th edition of the Magical Kenya Travel Expo.

The show, Kenya’s largest international tourism exhibition, will for the first time be held at the Kenya coast this year and Diani will be the venue, an area under the jurisdiction of Kwale County.

Information passed from the coast suggests that already have 176 buyers confirmed their presence in Kenya as well as a large number of international travel and tourism media representatives, coming from at least 35 countries around the world. The theme of the expo this year was given as ‘Sustainability – Keeping the Magic Alive’.

One of the Kwale county’s biggest revenue earners is tourism, not only from the beach resorts but a range of other auxiliary services like curio shops, restaurants and of course the Shimba Hills National Park, which is located just a few kilometres from the county headquarters in Kwale town.

Connected with the rest of Kenya by air through daily scheduled flights in and out of the Ukunda airfield is Diani one of magnets for travelers from upcountry, the region and from overseas, and a large number of top rated beach resorts have time and again won international awards – alongside the magnificent beaches of Diani – providing evidence, if any is needed, that the Kenya coast can hold its own against other international beach destinations.

#MKTE2015 is taking place between the 14th and 17th of October at the Leisure Lodge Beach and Golf Resort.
