TOUR IS OPEN FOR ANYONE – INCLUDING WHEEL CHAIR RIDERS

John Balongo, the driving force behind the Tour D EAC, has just confirmed that Joseph Tebandeke, Uganda’s wheel chair racing champion, has signed up for the East Africa wide event which will take place in August and September this year.
The 45 day cycling event, from 01st of August to 15th of September, is aimed to promote regional unity and has seen cyclists from all five East African Community countries sign up for part or all of the tour.
Said Balongo to this correspondent earlier tonight: ‘Don’t miss riding alongside Tebandeke Joseph 23yrs old, disabled and a wheelchair racer. Uganda’s Wheelchair racing Champion. He will take part in the 5000 km 45days East African Bicycle Tour, his dream is to reach out to the world to inspire and motivate both disabled and able persons to always GO FOR IT‘.
Earlier on had John appealed for region wide support and invited more sponsors to come on board to make this year’s edition of the tour the success the idea deserves: ‘We composed our routes so that participants can have a full scope of Tour d’ EAC 2017 experiences. We blended it up between experiencing different motherlands, impressive climbs and slopes, food stuffs and cultures, dialects and tribes, en-route touristic sites and small East African villages.
