EAST AFRICAN CYCLING EVENT REACHES NAIROBI
(Posted 09th August 2019)
Its not everyday you get to see cyclists traversing 5 countries whose aims are to promote unity and integration between the East African countries through the use of tourism and using bicycles.
They journey started in Uganda last week and the cyclists now have made their way to the Kenyan capital of Nairobi where they are taking a rest before heading to Tanzania through the Namanga route on Saturday.
The tour had previously passed through the town of Nakuru where they called upon the Governor who then flagged them off for their ride to Limuru.
Yesterday’s ride into Nairobi saw them leave Limuru passing through Kinoo where Ben Wahome of 2 Wheels Power was gracious enough to supply them with plenty of bananas to keep their energy levels high.
After that did the cyclists head towards Westlands where they met with Brian Tabbs of the Brian Tabbs Bike Shop who graciously supplied the riders with Spd Shoes plus rain chagets all for free.
The riders were quite jovial and happy to get some new equipment to use for their safari before then heading to town to meet the East African Community delegates from Nairobi.
That was followed by an interview with the Good News Broadcasting Service where organizers and riders were able to narrate their story and explain their objectives.
After being hosted for supper by the station did the riders then head back to Moi Avenue Primary School where they were pitching camp for the night.
On Saturday will the cyclists leave Nairobi and head to Namanga before on Sunday crossing the border into Tanzania and riding into the East African capital of Arusha.
God’s Speed to the riders as they continue their epic journey across the region.
