September is Tourism Month, and World Tourism Day on the 27th celebrates Accessible Tourism under the UNWTO theme ’Tourism for All’.
In keeping with this theme, the September edition includes editorial on Accessible Tourism Etiquette. This article answers common questions such as: How does one communicate with people with disabilities?; What language should one use to write or talk about people with disabilities?; What is the etiquette when meeting a blind person or a wheelchair user?; How much can one expect of a person with a disability, and what help should be given or offered?
Linking to the Accessible Tourism theme, our story on how endurance motor cyclist Joey Evans overcame paralysis to enter the 2017 Dakar Rally is inspiring.
Addressing the theme of Tourism Month in South Africa, Claus Tworeck (CEO of City Sightseeing) provides some insightful thoughts on Linking the Tourism Chain.
In the Environment section, our feature articles deal with The War Against Alien Invasive Trees, and Lalibela Game Reserves’ efforts in this regard. (Watch Lalibela’s new video here).
If your tourism business is involved in buying or selling safaris into Africa, then the article ‘Marketing Platforms for Safari Businesses‘ is definitely worth reading.
