FIVE TOURISTS AND THEIR GUIDE MISSING AFTER FLASH FLOOD HITS HELLS GATE NATIONAL PARK

Tragedy struck again at Hells Gate National Park, when a group of tourists and their guide got overwhelmed by a flash flood, caused by a severe rainstorm some distance away.
Kenya Wildlife Service and other security agencies have launched a full scale search and rescue mission, hoping to find the group alive, though hopes have faded when night fell over the park, making search efforts all but impossible until daylight.
The alarm was apparently raised by visitors to the park who witnessed the situation but were unable to extend any help, given the wet inferno which swept through the gorges of Hells Gate National Park.
From added information received was one body recovered several kilometres away from the location where the group was caught by the raging floods.
ATCNews had reported about a previous incident 7 years ago when KWS as a result then closed the park in April 2012 to review safety measures, before reopening the park again in June 2012.
It is understood from a usually very reliable source that KWS will once again review what additional measures can be instituted to prevent such incidents from happening though there are no plans to close the park again.
