A Cessna 172, owned by the Kenya School of Flying, registered as 5Y-BYQ, MSN 15281936, manufactured in 1978, crashed short of the Voi airstrip earlier in the day.
The flight originated in Malindi and was reportedly for training purposes.
The pilot, just 20 years old, perished in the accident.
The aircraft was completely destroyed in the crash.
An air accident investigation has been launched to establish the cause of the crash.
