Training, the key for excellence in the workplace

IT WAS BACK TO SCHOOL FOR 15 TOURISM PROFESSIONALS IN THE SEYCHELLES

Fifteen senior tourism professionals went back to school for a refresher course, according to information received from the Seychelles Tourism Academy.

Chateau de Namur’ Director General Cedric Vandervaeren conducted the training in which senior staff from the Seychelles Tourism Board, the Seychelles Tourism Academy, the tourism ministry’s department of tourism, the Constance Ephelia Resort, the Kempinski Seychelles Resort, the Avani Barbarons Seychelles and the Beachcomber St. Anne Resort participated.

Namur and STA last year signed a Memorandum of Understanding for closer cooperation between the two hospitality and tourism institutions which saw student exchanges going both ways, with Belgian students coming to the Seychelles for attachment while Seychellois students in turn were able to understudy a European work environment.

The two week course covered all key aspects of hospitality operations and the participants were all awarded their certificates after successfully completing the studies.

STA is in the process of rolling out phase two of their three phased re-development programme with yet more construction of state of the art facilities, aimed to eventually cater for over 1.000 students and becoming the Indian Ocean’s leading hospitality and tourism training academy.
