New Exhibition in the Voortrekker Monument

An exceptional new exhibition depicting the original 27 plaster of paris panels, sculpted between 1941 and 1949 as maquettes (studies) for the eventual marble frieze in the Hall of Heroes, was unveiled on the cenotaph level on 17 December. The history around the panels is immensely interesting and is explained beautifully. It is a must for anyone who loves the Monument. The exhibition will officially be opened soon.

Voortrekker Monument receives Award

Last month, the Voortrekker Monument was named as number 2 in a listing of 111 best places to visit in Pretoria on Tripadvisor. We were also named 2016 Traveller’s Choice Winner on the same site.

EVENTS

Cannon Susanna

Cannon Susanna will be fired at Fort Schanskop at 12:00 on Friday, 3 February 2017. Entrance is R15 per car.

Park Accoustics

The Park Accoustics concert will take place in Fort Schanskop on 5 February 2017. Please note that the Fort will be closed to visitors during this time.

The following sport activities will take place on the Monument grounds this month:
