South Africa’s flag carrier, South African Airways (SAA), has announced the immediate suspension of all international and regional operations until 31 May 2020 in response to a government travel ban aimed at stopping the transmission of the coronavirus. The airline operates in three markets that are currently categorized as “high risk areas”, namely the USA (Washington DC and New York), the UK (London) and Germany (Frankfurt and Munich). In addition, South African Airways operates flights to Australia (Perth) and Brazil (Sao Paulo), which have so far not been declard high-risk. All flights to theses destinations are now cancelled.
