Adds ATCNews: Due to the extraordinary delays in launching the route to the UK has the airline lost their Heathrow slots and subsequently had to settle for the lesser choice of London airport with Gatwick, where onward connectivity is substantially inferior to the connections passengers into Heathrow enjoy.
This gave neighbouring Kenya Airways the golden opportunity to launch Gatwick services way ahead of Uganda Airlines, in addition to serving Heathrow on a daily basies out of Nairobi.
This will fuel competition where Kenya Airways will offer special deals on the Ugandan market for flights to both Heathrow and Gatwick, no doubt impacting on the profitability of the route when hot deals of flights via Nairobi will carve into the earning potential of the route.
