PRECISION AIR SET FOR ENTEBBE WHILE SAFARILINK ADDS ZANZIBAR

Precision Air is, prior to their Saturday launch of services between Dar es Salaam and Kilimanjaro to Entebbe, now stepping up commercial activities in Kampala.
In the morning will the airline host 100 travel agents at the new Golden Tulip Hotel to provide Uganda’s key agencies with updates on not just the new four times a week flights but also the airline’s wider network options.
Precision Air, out of Dar es Salaam, serves a number of domestic destinations including the Spice Island of Zanzibar and flies from its hub in Dar es Salaam to Tabora, Musoma, Mtwara, Kigoma, Bukoba, Mwanza, Arusha and Kilimanjaro while also offering four flights a week to the heart of the Serengeti National Park, using the Seronera airfield from October this year onwards.
Besides Entebbe, which launches on the 01st of July, does Precision Air also fly to Nairobi / Kenya.
Using a fleet of nine ATR turboprop aircraft, all acquired brand new, does the airline operate five ATR72-500, three ATR42-500 and one ATR42-600.
Serving as CEO is Ms. Sauda Rajab, well known to the Ugandan market for her stint as Kenya Airways country manager some years ago before advancing to the position of KQ’s Regional Manager Kenya, Regional Manager Europe, Americas and Asia and finally as General Manager of Kenya Airways Cargo before moving to Dar es Salaam to manager Precision Air.
With her on the senior management team are Mr. Robert Owusu as Commercial Director, Mr. Gennaro Sicurezza as Technical Director, Captain Ngambi Mamuya as Director Flight Operations and Ms. Christine Cyprian as Director Ground Handling Services, among other senior staff.
Chairman of the company is founder Mr. Michael Shirima who together with partner Kenya Airways remains the largest single shareholders of the company which is the only airline listed on the Dar es Salaam stock exchange.
A member of IATA is Precision Air since 2006 compliant with the organization’s IOSA regulations, short for IATA Operational Safety Audit.
Notably does the airline also offer a frequent flyer programme known as PAA Royal.
Also launching this weekend will be the flights from Nairobi’s Wilson Airport to the Spice Island of Zanzibar, when Safarilink will launch the route using a Bombardier Dash8 aircraft. Safarilink will serve the route initially with four flights a week.
This will be Safarilink’s first regional destination beyond Kenya after serving all the key national parks with schedule services, at times twice a day. Safarilink also serves Lamu, Ukunda / Diani and Vipingo at the Kenya coast and offers scheduled flights to a number of upcountry destinations like Kitale, Nanyuki and Lodwar.
Safarilink is East Africa’s first ever carbon neutral airline company through their support programme for the Mount Kenya Trust tree planting programme but is also engaged in other conservation programmes. The airline supports the Colobus Conservation in Diani, giving a fixed amount for each passenger landed and uplifted in Ukunda while doing a similar scheme with the Lewa Conservancy which receives a percentage of the value of each ticket sold to that destination.
Repeatedly named as ‘Eco Warrier ‘ by EcoTourism Kenya has Safarilink all the green credentials one can wish for.
Through a dedicated secure access lounge can Safarilink board their passengers directly from their departure lounge, where travelers can enjoy free WiFi while waiting for their boarding announcement.
Safarilink operates a fleet of 9 Cessna Grand Caravans (up to 13 passengers) and one each Bombardier Dash 8-100 (37 passengers) and Dash 8-315 (52 passengers).
Notably does Safarilink also offer a frequent flyer programme known as ‘Safari Bonus’ giving loyal passengers a wide range of additional benefits.
The two additional services to Zanzibar and on the Entebbe Kilimanjaro Dar es Salaam route are expected to bring not only more tourists to these destinations but also facilitate business travel. This applies in particular for the flights between Uganda and Tanzania which over the past one year have signed a number of major economic agreements including for the building of an oil pipeline from Uganda’s oil fields to the Indian Ocean port of Tanga.
