UGANDA AIRLINES EYES DUBAI – GUANGZHOU – MUMBAI AND LONDON FROM EARLY 2021
(Posted 01st October 2020)
Uganda Airlines earlier today resumed flight operations following an enforced grounding by the Ugandan government when they closed the airport for scheduled passenger flights at the end of March. Ugandans had been increasingly frustrated by the inexplicable delays to reopen the airport after neighbours Rwanda and Kenya already relaunched international flights from 01st of August, Tanzania in early July while Ethiopia never closed their airport at all.
Uganda Airlines relaunched four destinations, Nairobi, Mogadishu, Juba and Dar es Salaam and while the initial flight frequencies will be less than pre-pandemic is it expected that with growing demand additional services will be added.
In the upcoming phase two of the relaunch will the airline add Mombasa, Zanzibar, Bujumbura and Kilimanjaro and at a later stage also Kinshasa, Lusaka and Johannesburg.
The CRJ900 aircraft, when reaching their relaunched destinations, were given the traditional water cannon welcome.
