WHO WILL BE UGANDA AIRLINES’ NEXT CEO

A search process has been initiated for the position of CEO of Uganda’s new national airline. This was confirmed by the Permanent Secretary in the Ministry of Works and Transport Mr. Bageya, who in fact stated that the airline was searching for a ‘new vibrant CEO‘ who could drive the airline forward, obviously piling question marks galore over how he perceived the performance of the previous CEO who appears to have been sidelined into another management position.
From sources close to the airline was it learned that Mr. Cornwell Muleya was appointed as Acting CEO after serving as a technical advisor to the airline.
Previous CEO Ephraim Bagenda was apparently moved to the position of Director of Engineering and Maintenance.
Now that the race for a new CEO is on is speculation mounting over the individual to be appointed. Muleya himself will no doubt himself be a serious contender, having previously served as airline CEO for different carriers and been one of the staunchest advocates for the launch of a new national airline during its gestation stage.
With now four CRJ900 aircraft on the fleet is Uganda Airlines eyeing 13 countries to fly to from Entebbe, among them neighbours Kenya, South Sudan, Burundi, Tanzania and Congo though South Africa, Zimbabwe, Zambia, Ethiopia, Eritrea and Sudan are also under route planning.
Presently does Uganda Airlines fly to Nairobi, Juba, Bujumbura, Dar es Salaam and Mogadishu, adding Mombasa and Kilimanjaro in coming weeks.
By the end of 2020 or in early 2021 will the airline take delivery of two ordered Airbus A330-800Neo aircraft to then enter the long haul market with flights to India, China and the UK, though other destinations have not been ruled out.
